Brian Scott is the Deputy Assistant National Cyber Director for Cyber Policy and Programs, responsible for coordinating policy and efforts related to the cybersecurity of private sector and public non-Federal critical infrastructure.
From December 2019 to January 2022 Brian served as Director for Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity at the National Security Council (NSC) staff. Prior to joining the NSC, Brian was the Director for Policy at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and served in various other positions at the Department of Homeland Security’s National Operations Center and Office of Infrastructure Protection.
Brian joined DHS in November 2007 after a 28-year career in the U.S. Navy, which included operational tours flying from aircraft carriers during operations in Iraq, Bosnia, and Somalia. Brian served as an Air Wing Strike Lead during combat in Desert Storm, commanded Training Squadron TEN, and was the Air Boss on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman during its maiden deployment and combat operations in 2000-2001. Brian’s last Navy assignment was assistant professor of National Security Studies and Transportation Industry Studies at the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
Brian is a graduate of Marquette University and the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
