Ryan Long

Ryan Long leads the Global Intelligence, Crisis Management, and Executive Protection functions at McDonald’s and has been serving as the acting Chief Security Officer since November of 2022. He started at McDonald's 2013, when he was hired to help launch the company’s first intelligence program.
Ryan began his professional career in 2003 as a U.S. Army Intelligence Officer. He’s held a variety of analyst, advisory, and management positions of increasing responsibility in both a reserve and active capacity and deployed multiple times to both Iraq and Afghanistan where he served with distinction while receiving numerous decorations. Ryan's most recent command position was leading a strategic intelligence organization focused on analytic, counterintelligence, and counterterrorism support to the United States European Command.
He previously served a two-year term as the President of the Association of International Risk Intelligence Professionals (AIRIP), an industry association dedicated to professionalizing intelligence analysis, and was a founding board member of the Veterans Leadership Council, the foremost business network for the current generation of Veteran leaders.
Ryan is the host of The Business of Intelligence podcast and is preparing to launch INTELAB Ventures, a unique incubator that connects corporate risk and resilience practitioners with thought leadership, a trusted peer-to-peer network, and cutting-edge initiatives. He has a bachelor’s degree with Honors in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a law degree from The University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
