On Thursday, February 29, nearly 300 intelligence and national security professionals gathered in McLean, VA for a Leadership Breakfast with FBI Director Christopher Wray.

The program began with Director Wray delivering prepared remarks, discussing the FBI's distinctive role in the Intelligence Community (IC), the Bureau's new 5-year Intelligence Program Strategy, and challenges related to election security. He highlighted the FBI's ability to fill gaps that adversaries seek to exploit, thanks to its unique combination of law enforcement and intelligence authorities, describing the FBI as a versatile tool akin to a Swiss army knife.

Director Wray then discussed the three key elements of the FBI's new intelligence program strategy: technology, tradecraft, and training. He stressed the importance of continuous innovation in the rapidly evolving technology landscape, providing actionable intelligence and analysis, and training a top-notch, multidisciplinary workforce. Concluding his remarks, he cautioned against adversaries moving at an unprecedented pace, leveraging advanced technologies like AI, and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to counter these evolving threats.
Following Director Wray's remarks, The Hon. Sue Gordon joined him for a moderated Q&A session focusing on election security, foreign threats, Section 702, emerging technology, and other relevant topics. In response to a question about addressing the nation's challenges, Director Wray reiterated the significance of partnerships, stating that today's IC is more cohesive than ever. He also strongly emphasized the critical nature of reauthorizing Section 702, describing it as indispensable and the most vital tool for protecting Americans from foreign threats.
The session concluded with Director Wray reiterating the importance of prioritizing the collective shared interest of safeguarding the country and reinforcing the values that define its greatness.
