Ms. Elizabeth Mitchell is Chief of NGA Charlottesville. In this capacity, Ms. Mitchell leads a diverse team of civilian, military, and contractor personnel who partner with all-source analysts at the Army's National Ground Intelligence Center and the Defense Intelligence Agency in Charlottesville, VA, to analyze and counter adversary military capabilities.

Ms. Mitchell began her career at NGA in 2004 as an imagery analyst where she assessed adversary nuclear programs as well as led development of the analytic training and tradecraft associated with a compartmented geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) capability.

Starting in 2009, Ms. Mitchell held positions associated with resource management and execution, including serving as business executive and chief of staff of the NGA Office of Special Programs and Office of Counterproliferation, respectively. Ms. Mitchell also conducted rotational assignments in support of NGA Senior Leadership. For example, she helped lead the NGA Director's 2010 Transition Team and later served as Senior Advisor to the Agency's Chief Operating officer.

In 2012, Ms. Mitchell was selected to establish NGA's cyber GEOINT mission. After demonstrating the value of GEOINT to the new warfare domain, Ms. Mitchell conducted a joint duty assignment (JDA) as Deputy Director of the Underground Facility Analysis Center and later returned to NGA to help reform analysis of compartmented GEOINT.

In 2016, Ms. Mitchell conducted a JDA in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) as Executive Assistant to the Deputy DNI for Intelligence Integration (DDNI/II). In this role, Ms. Mitchell prepared the DDNI/II, DNI, and CIA Director for their daily intelligence briefings to the President. Ms. Mitchell returned to NGA in 2018 as the International Affairs Senior Advisor where she helped build and strengthen relationships with allied partners. From 2019 to 2021, Ms. Mitchell served as Chief of Congressional Affairs where she led all NGA engagement with the Agency's six congressional oversight committees.

Ms. Mitchell has received prestigious awards during her career, including a Presidential Rank Award, Superior Civilian Service Medal, and DNI Distinguished Analyst Award.

​Originally from Colorado, Ms. Mitchell graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in Public Policy and Hispanic Studies. Ms. Mitchell currently resides in Charlottesville, VA, with her husband and two children.
