Kate Hewitt is the Deputy Director for Nuclear Forensics in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters. Previously, she was a detailed to the Office of Secretary of Defense for Policy as the Multilateral Arms Control and Nonproliferation Advisor. Prior to joining the Department of Defense, she held multiple roles at the National Nuclear Security Administration. Kate began her nuclear career as a research assistant and Hebert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellow at the Brookings Institution, after completing her service tenure as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Moldova. She holds an M.A. in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Gonzaga University. Kate sits on the Board of Advisors for Girl Security and has published extensively.
