Nick Hull
Deputy to the Commander
Cyber National Mission Force
Nick Hull is the Deputy to the Commander of the Cyber National Mission Force (CNMF), where he is responsible for supporting the CNMF Commander in overseeing and guiding full spectrum cyberspace operations to deter, disrupt, and if necessary, defeat adversary cyber and malign influence actors.
Mr. Hull began his career as a tactical intelligence officer in the 82nd Airborne Division with service in Afghanistan. He most recently served as a Senior Operations Officer in NSA’s National Security Operations Center (NSOC) executing command and control of the global cryptologic enterprise on behalf of DIRNSA. He served as the Operations Officer and later Co-Event Manager for the Afghanistan Retrograde and Emergency Evacuation NSA-U.S. Cyber Command Enterprise Events. Prior to NSOC, he served as the NSA Deputy for the joint NSA-U.S. Cyber Command Election Security Group working collaboratively with partners across the government to defend the 2020 U.S. elections against foreign interference. He previously served as the Chief of Operations for NSA’s Office of South Asia and South and Central Asia Division, as a Senior Counterterrorism Intelligence Watch Officer, an Operations Lead for Computer Network Operations, and as the Senior Intelligence Community Representative and Senior NSA Collection Office supporting a joint expeditionary task force in a sensitive overseas location.
Mr. Hull served as Assistant Intelligence Officer (S2), 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, SIGINT/Electronic Warfare Platoon Leader and later Company Executive Officer, 313th Military Intelligence Battalion, and as Aid-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General (Support) for the 82nd Airborne Division and NATO International Security Assistance Force Regional Command East in Afghanistan.
Mr. Hull is a graduate of the Defense Senior Leadership Development Program, a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Army War College, and a Distinguished Military Graduate of Brown University with a dual concentration in Slavic Studies and History with study in Russia at Moscow State University and the St. Petersburg Mining University. He is conversant in Ukrainian and Russian, and speaks basic German.
Mr. Hull’s awards include the Defense Civilian Meritorious Service Medal, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence Exceptional Achievement Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf clusters, and two National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citations. He is qualified to wear the Senior Parachutist Badge.
Mr. Hull grew up in New York, Florida, and Rhode Island, and lives in Jessup, Maryland. He enjoys trail running, hiking, cycling, and visiting museums with his wife Mary (the NSA Senior Advocate for Reporting) and their two elementary school-aged sons. His dogs are beagle/dachshund mutts named Frank GrrRowlett and Ralph Canine.
